The picture that is worth a thousand words?

| | Comments (9)

This is a picture that has been going around the net for a week now. Perhaps it is the reason for the delay of Civil War or it may just be a hoax. Anyway it's a bit of a spoiler and its a spoiler that pisses me off! So be pissed off with me if you want.

Beh, someone must have made that up. Which artist drawing Spider-Man in Civil War's art looks like that?

Now, that's not saying that the picture won't come true... I, for one, am expecting it through all of the stuff Q has said on Joe Fridays, and through the fact that the unmasking would allow for Joe's wishes to come true.

I think its made up. It looks like a Micheal Turner rip-off. Unmasking Spidey was a controversial and could lead to good stories with MJ & May in danger. To kill MJ this soon would kill all of the future stories. Not only that I think that the backlash would be tremendous. I'm ok with May dying, she's older than the comic book, but MJ is too good a character and too good a storyline to kill this early.

1.) I don't think it's real, the artwork I don't recognize at all, of any of the current CW artists

2.) If the ending of CW is what I think it is, I am not real bothered by Mary Jane dying. By now I think we all realize that anything that happens in CW is gonna be wiped away in the end aka It was all a dream or Scarlet Witch changes everything back or the Watcher changes things, or someone goes back in time and prevents Stamford, or whatever.

3.) Even if CW is not undone, there are only two characters in my mind that have stayed dead: Barry Allen & Ted Kord. Seriously people never stay dead in comics for long. I mean heck Aunt May has technically died once already.

I think right now I am almost viewing Civil War as Marvel's version of Zero Hour, a series that eventually will piss me off so badly I stop reading comics, least Marvel anyway.

If this is the real deal all I have to say is goodbye Marvel for good. this is ridiculous.

Looking at the picture it looks like Scott Kolins' artwork. He is currently drawing Beyond, so I don't know if this is a future story in that or if it has any ramifications caused by Civil War. Or...it could all just be bullshit!

What are you all so worried about? I mean, with the flawless execution of aunt may dying and then really being a clone, how could they mess this up?

Jerkface said:

I'm surprised no one predicted this earlier. All that razzmatazz about "something happening to make spidey rethink his position" I kept reading about. Plus, we all know Joe Q. wanted mary jane dead, thats why Kevin Smith turned down a gig writing Spider-Man in '02 (thanks wikipedia!)

joshiebear said:

are you kidding, jerkface? EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER predicted this when spidey came out. i know i did. when omar said "perhaps it's why they're delaying civil war" it's because we comic geeks suspect they're changing stuff around cuz as soon as spidey came out, everyone said "mj's gonna die" and marvel went "oh shit, they guessed it, we have to do something else..." at least that's the theory......

Brent K. said:

In the most recent Joe Fridays on Newsarama, JQ totally dances around it by naming himself, Scott Kolins, Michael Turner, Ron Garney, and J. Scott Campbell (from all the upcoming Spider-Man projects) as the artist all separately as he always corrects himself. Then he goes on to say it is a fan-produced, and they have nothing to do with it.

God I hope this is just a hoax to keep the interest in Civil War while we wait for them to finish the issue.
