Marvel Has lost its damn mind?!!

In an effort to bring soap opera viewers into comics Marvel Comics is creating a character for the show that will premier on November 1st. Guiding Light is America's oldest soap opera and has had its share of obscure characters (according to their own website). Marvel Comics said that it will cross-promote the storyline with an eight-page insert to appear in several of its comic books in which the Guiding Light characters will interact with Marvel superheroes. If I didn't make it clear the first by its title, this has got to be the What the fuck were they thinking moment this week!!!! Here is a link where you can watch the preview: just click here

A friend of mine always had this notion that the best crossover ever would be if the Justice League fought Freddy Krueger. I always told him this idea was terrible and that he was a terrible person for having it. Now I know that there are far more terrible crossovers in the world, looming ominously in our future.

egads. freddy krueger vs justice league? it's stupid when slashers meet anybody other than the people they're going to kill. i remember flipping through a jason vs leatherface comic. it was terrible. actually, army of darkness vs. reanimator and other stuff was bad too.......so yes, i agree, your friend is a terrible person.

Although some time ago, I did see this fan film at the Star Wars web site that was Freddy vs. Ghostbusters. It was actually well written for a fan film. And I thought the premise was okay.

But I am ashamed at you people! You shouldn't judge Marvel too harshly, and say this crossover isn't going to work. This is the fine company that gave us not one but TWO Star Trek/X-Men crossovers. I'm SURE they're not doing this out of some sense of trying to "add new readers" or anything. They're targeting their base demographic, right?

Star Trek/X-Men?.....which Star Trek we talkin....nope never mind, I don't wanna know.

Dude I HAVE the Star Trek/X-Men crossover that Silvestri drew a few pages for, it was the Original Star Trek cast, a la two Dr. McCoys, priceless.

Jeff Hartz said:

And then the sequel was the novel with the X-Men and the Next Generation crew.
But you guys would have people believe that Marvel only does these highly thought out and intellectually sensible crossovers as cheap gimmicks to line their pockets! I don't know who you all are anymore!!! Stop tellin' me LIES!!
