Mike Carey reallllly doesn't do it for me. I've heard people saying that the last X-Men arc has been the best one that they've read in a long time, but really I think that following Milligan's "worst X-Men run ever" it's not really hard to pull. I was catching up with Ultimate Fantastic Four and was almost through with God War when I decided to stop because I wasn't liking it very much and lo and behold! It's Mike Carey writing it. I don't think he has the characterization of anyone down very well in either book. Furthermore, the X-Men team was lame. I was excited about Rouge being a leader again, but felt that having those guys together didn't make too much sense. Really, I just fucking hated his Sabertooth and Sabertooth's existence in the book in general.
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who really likes Marrow.
