Joe Quesada to join us for an interview
Editor and Chief of Marvel Comics Joe Quesada has agreed to do an interview with us on Thursday August 30th at 4:30pm eastern time. We would love for our listeners to participate and ask questions. All you have to do is leave your questions in the comment section. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you wish. We will try to read as many as we can. Thank you Jeff (Dr. Whofan) you are the man for setting up this interview for us.

I'm shocked! But this is way cool!
Question for mr. Quesada.
You designed the "Iron-Spider" costume for Spider-Man. Where you pleased with how it's run turned out and how all of those different artists interpreted it? Since it only lasted through Civil War, were you pleased to see it revived in Avengers: The Initiative? Thanks.
Whoaaaaaa... this'll be an episode not to miss...
This is pretty awesome guys!
Question:
Joe, I love your Art, it really is awesome and it inspires me alot. I love to draw and want to eventually become a Comic Book Artist. I'm going to college soon and I would like to hear what courses you would recommend I take in pursuing this dream of mine or just to become a better Artist.
Also another one if that's okay...
Question:
Any Chance of Deadpool getting a MAX Series? Pretty Please!
No applause please, just send money...
Okay, besides my obvious question you'll be required to ask which is "Can you please do a Doctor Who comic based on the new show?", I have 1 comment for Joe. "Thank you for being one of the driving forces behind making trade paperbacks a more accepted form of collected work in the industry." And three quick questions: 1) Any hints or exclusives of the upcoming Invaders/Avengers crossover? 2) If you could have one character from DC comics for one year in the Marvel Universe, Other than the big 5 (Bats,Supes,WW, GL and Flash), who would it be and why? and 3) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a new Doctor Who series????
Or I'll come to your house at 3AM and pitch my comic revamp of the old "Voyagers!" TV series.....
Jeff, you are off the hook for setting this up! I can't wait to hear the interview. By the way, I think one more "PLEASE" will convince Joe to do a new Dr. Who series. Plus, I thought I was the only one who watched "Voyagers" back in the 80's! LOL!
Back in the 80s?? It just came out on DVD and I just finshed watching it this week. It even still has the "if you want to know more about (insert historical figure here), take a voyage down to your local library. It's all in books" message at the end of every episode.
The scary thing is I actually do have a pitch for a revamp, too. LOL
I agree, Jeff was off the hook on this one. so here are a few questions.
1) Can we please see as many people as possible beat the living daylights out of Iron Man in the next year. I mean besides the Hulk that is. I'd really like to see this to be the lowest possible point in his life.
2) in the upcoming Skrull story ark that is going to be going on in the next year, are there any characters that will be considered "untouchable?" I know I have read where Bendis has said that Iron Man will definately not be a skrull, but anyone else?
3) Please say there are no plans for bringing back Jean Grey. As much as I love the character, it'd do more harm than good at this point.
4) Do you just hate my favorite X-Men characters or what? Looks like you killed off Cable and more than likely Rogue will be joining Sinister's Marauders or die. Anyone else on the worm food train before this Fall's Mesiah Complex story arch?
5) What type of timetable do we have for finding out who Night Thrasher really is in New Warriors. I know the evidence all points to Dwayne Taylor, but I got a feeling this is all misdirection.
6) How long will the Captain America comic continue until we get someone filling the role? I know this is an unpopular thought to most. Steve is/was Captain America. But it seems almost logical either Stark or the US government will try to fill the role.
7) 4 words. Impossible Man Limited Series.
8) Will we see the Scarlet Witch pop up in the coming year?
9) Oh, and how about a Dr. Who series?
I don't really have a question, I just wanted to second Spidey's suggestion of a Deadpool Max series... or even just a solo series.
And a quick thanks for your part in the creation of my favourite character of all time, Azrael.
Question 1: Why do you think it is that so many people are going to movie theaters to watch comic book movies, but very few of those people are actually buying comics?
Question 2: Will Joe Madureira be working on any future Marvel projects after he's done with Ultimates 3?
And I would also like to suggest a Deadpool Max series as well.
This kinda relates to previously mentioned stuff but, ask if Joe knows of any future TV/movie development deals on any Marvel properties.
Joe Q. What is your secret to all this weight lost recently?
Mr Q.
1) Did you like working on the Ray mini-series and Batman: Sword of Azrael mini-series? I picked up the Ray mini for a total of $5 over the summer and loved it. And Azrael is one of my favorite characters. Any reflections on these co-creations?
2) Admit it. The Peter/MJ marriage ending you've been pushing for the past year is a ruse, just like killing Speedball was.
Oh, yeah. One more question from me: Can I be hired as the continuity editor? My job will be to make sure everything balances within the universe and that events that transpire in one title are reflected if those characters are being used in another title. I'll require a small salary, and I'll require stock options and free trade paperbacks. And I don't mind my office being in the basement. But my editorial authority will be absolute. When do you want me to start?
Joe,
1. Will it ever be resolve who is Xorn/Magneto, the one that destroyed New York back on Grant Morrison Xmen?
2. Will you ever bring back X-Man (Nate Grey)?
3. Watching the planet Hulk Saga and world war hulk I was wonderig wich of the Hulk persona we are watching now, Mr Fixit, Barner Hulk or Brute Hulk, it does not seems to be any of those?
4. I have some interesting idea for a Fantomex mini can you let me write it?
I never read X-Man, was it any good Rex?
I'm trying to figure out which one, Dan or Omar, will first ask Joe when he plans to resolve the legal ownership of ROM THE SPACEKNIGHT and bring him back. I'm thinking Dan for some reason.
I have been a Spider-Man fan since I began collecting comics back in 1992. Ever since I started collecting Peter has been married to Mary Jane. I feel that after all the crap Peter has had to deal with in life, he deserves to have Mary Jane by his side. Having Peter and Mary Jane married not only makes for interesting stories, but Peter deserves to have someone beautiful and supportive in his corner when he isn't off doing his job as Spider-Man. It also gives hope to fellow comic geeks like myself that we all have our Mary Jane waiting for us someday in life.
With the upcoming One More Day, it seems the marriage will be undone. Not only does this feel like a huge slap in the face to Peter/MJ fans, it also seems like this event will alienate long time spider-fans. So what do you say to Peter/MJ fans in regards to upcoming events in One More Day. What sound advice do you have to keep long time spider fans happy if rumors prove to be true? It just seems like this is a huge slam for fans of the spider-marriage.
While tooling around the comics section of a local shop i read a recent issue of marvel adventures avengers. i almost cried cuz i remembered that there was a time when comic stories had happy endings and there wasn't just huge conflict after huge conflict with a minor moment just to catch your breath in between. Cap's dead, spidey's more screwed than ever, iron man's a arse-hole, thor's dealing with...god stuff, there's no hero out there who's really just happy, is there? i mean one of the a-listers. i know conflict is essential, but with conflict there should be at least a little resolution instead of just compromise after compromise. when are some of our heroes going to have a happy reprieve?
Ben: Why are you presuming to know the ending of One More Day?
I third Deadpool MAX and i'd also like to see Essential Deadpool.
Question: What goes into deciding whether a mini series gets made in to an ongoing (like Moon Knight or The Initiative) or something something pitched as an ongoing is made into a mini?
Joshiebear, your comment about happy endings is precisely why I've decided the need to have a Deadpool Max Series. I imagine at least one issue can end in a massage parlor
So much support for Deadpool, it makes me want to do the dance of joy.
OK, I have one - is there any update on issue 3 of Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk, and do delays like this make you consider having the writers and artists complete the work before the first issue is released?
Joe,
Thanks a lot for dropping by and answering questions!
I have noticed recently that books like New Avengers will have a premeire HC released and a trade paperback solicited in the same month. It makes it hard for me to know what to order for my store because if I don't have the HC, I may lose sales, but as soon as a paperback is solicited, my premiere HC's won't sell.
Why put out the Premiere HC's at all if the paperback will follow so closely behind?
With many new writers coming in from film and television, has there been any thought to having a co-writer/plotter for their first story or two? It seems like there are a lot of lateness issues (beyond the normal week here or there) and a co-writer of expereince could be a big help in the transition from other mediums to comics.
Do you think that the Xorn/Magneto issue has become too confusing?
Feel free to simply with my no-prize solution:
Morrison's Magneto was real and died after killing Jean. When the Scarlet Witch was losing it in New Avengers Disassembled, she wanted him to save her, so she made it so. His return from the dead was just one of the many people whose "life/death status" she altered.
In a case like the Xorn/Magneto issue, is it sometimes better for the story to just move on and not worry about it?
Thanks a lot for being out here talking to everyone!
Sorry I couldn't make it to the podcast, my big question is this:
You've had a trend of announcing projects or revelations going on in a series while they are still being worked on, with books like One More Day, which have been met with (from my viewing) enormous negative fan response, how do you handle such feedback?
I consider myself a rational fan who holds his opinions toill the book is out but such media hype has me wonder if this is a ploy to get people to read, if it is misleading, real spoiler leaks, do you factor all of this and mark it simply "hype" and go on with your story?
In any case, threatening a character's future definetly generates hype so there is no question about that, I just wonder if One More Day was meant to be a solution and has turned (before it even comes out) into a nightmare?
I definitely second the notion of sorting out the legal issues of making another ROM series.
Perhaps you could kidnap Joe Q and hold him for ransom until Marvel makes it happen?
Please don't forget that question then, guys. And if no ROM serires, how about at least a Marvel Legends (or whatever they're calling the toy line now) of him? He could be a Build-A-Figure! And then if you end up with multiple parts of him, you could always scar them a little with a butane lighter and they could be battle-damaged spare parts!
Can we put Mark Bagley on Mighty Avengers as the regular artist? Lenil Yu is pumping out New Avengers like it's nothing, while we're still on issue 4 of Mighty Avengers. C'Mon Joe! The Mighty Avengers story has me intrigued, but at this point I've lost a lot of my interest since the book is soo late all the time. C'mon! You're not DC! I don't want another All-Star Bats or Wonder-Woman launch from Mighty Avengers.
Ask him how he copes with the tremendous amount of fan-hate he seems to generate.
So when do we get the epsiode? I'm excited!
Spidey,
Next Tuesday or new regularly scheduled podcast debute time!
