Open discussion thread - books from October 10/11

| | Comments (5)

What did you think about the comics that came out this week? Also, what format would you like these weekly discussion threads to take? Should I list the major releases, or just assume that you already know what you're buying? This one's a bit late, but from now on, they'll go up Wednesday morning.

I've not read many of this week's books yet, but I do have one question, to start discussion: If Mighty Avengers had shipped on time, would this week's New Avengers issue have anything to do with its cover?

If Mighty Avengers had shipped on time, the answer would still be NO. Though, we'd be reading about the symbiotes in Mighty Avengers and the cover might make more sense...

I really liked Black Adam this week, as well as Booster Gold. And, Green Lantern was awesome. I just wish Van Sciver was doing covers for this "Saga" as he started it...

The book reflected to cover, I saw Wolverine as a symbiote, didn't you?

I didn't see Wolverine as a symbiote, but that's still one fucking solid cover. So are they just going to keep releasing New Avengers on time and wait to publish Mighty? Because that's just sad.

As long as something gets publsihed on time, and I was half way joking about the symbote thing but if you look on the last page one of them looks really big earred...

I picked up JLA/Hitman #2 this week, and it was a good story, but not great. The gimmick that was needed to make the plot work was a little too convenient. Plus, Tommy just doesn't seem as interesting when he's not with his buddies, like Natt the Hat, or Ringo Chen. And, it was hard not to forget that this was in the past and that Tommy is dead, which made the end of the story poignant. But, overall, I enjoyed this 2-parter. Hey, Omar, assuming you read it, did you catch the reference to "Section Eight" on the cover?

I also got "One More Day, #2", and all I can say is, Dan, I now understand your frustration with the "World War Hulk" series and how it's going nowhere, because I now feel the exact same way about "One More Day". I'll got into detail on my next email for Podcast 73.

Speaking of "World War Hulk", wasn't Issue 5 supposed to come out this week? Of course, then again, this is Marvel we're talking about, so who knows...
