Spider-man 4 confirmed! Sam Raimi not so much :(

I know we are not a news source, but sometimes I hear things that just has to be brought up. I can deal with Dunst not coming back, but Raimi is almost a must for the formula to work. This was posted on IMDB:

"Spider-Man is returning for a fourth installment of the superhero franchise, but without director Sam Raimi in the director's chair. Raimi directed the first three movies and co-wrote 2007's Spider-Man 3 - but the filmmaker is stepping back to let someone else create their own vision for the web-slinging adventure. He tells MTV.com, "Right now, a writer is being sought to write the next installment. We're in the very early stages. I won't be working on the story. It'll be a brand-new writer coming in with a brand-new story - a fresh take on the Spider-Man series. We're hearing different versions right now and really enjoying the different stories. Hopefully, we'll hear one that sounds right for the fourth installment." When asked if would produce the movie, rather than direct, Raimi replies, "Yes, that's right. In this case, it's more in the writer's hands. I'm going to let the writer envision where Peter Parker would go to next."

Maybe they'll get Joel Schumacher or Brett Ratner on the project!

I think Spider-Man 4 is a horrible idea if it doesn't at least have Maguire and Raimi back. Plus, it's obviously not going to do near as well as the previous three with a new cast, writer, and directer.

Marvel and sony don't NEED the money, if the team isn't returning, then there is no point in attempting a sequel.

The smart thing to do would be to take the Batman Begins route and wait 8-10 years and re-start Spider-Man as a younger high schooler, maybe partly folowing the Ultimate storyline.

Spider-Man is my favorite film series, so their stupidity really dissapoints me. I won't be buying a ticket to it and I won't let anyone else buy one for me, I also won't buy or rent it on video, just to help prove to them that these kinds of sequels flop. The only way I'll see it, I don't care how good it ends up being, is for free at someone else's residence.

Good Riddance! As much as I like the Evil Dead series,Raimi just made spider-man smell like poo. IMHO, he was never the right person for the job, too much camp for the movies I thought, Spidey's movie Career is looking Promising.

This is some of the best news for me to come out of the Spider-Man movies. Only two things about it I heard bad about it are the fact that Raimi is still a part of it and Sony still has the rights. But there is no doubt in my mind that this will still suck.

eh, i'm with chris. it might sound shallow and ungrateful after spidey 1 and 2, but after 3, the series is sorta dead to me. sure i'll go and see any others they make, but the dream died. it's like seeing a cover band do all your favorite songs. sure there's stuff to like, but it isn't the real deal. adios sam, have fun producing shitty horror flicks. (evil dead trilogy doesn't count, and i hope he got 30 days of night right)
