Artist: Mauro Cascioli
Hot Damn! One of my favorite books is back! But without Howard Porter. Apparently Porter injured his drawing hand, and instead of finishing the series and prolonging the book, he handed the reins over to newcomer Mauro Cascioli, who paints digitally, like Howard Porter. Cascioli is a blend of Porter, Alex Ross, and Ariel Olivetti, but with more action than Olivetti's static poses. Freddy's Battle with Apollo ends, but with a condition. Apollo has been living a human life, and has a wife and family and doesn't want to give all that up, which is why he's fighting Freddy. Come to think of it, even though I really liked this issue, not much has happened. Originally we were going through a god an issue, but for the past five issues we've only been through 2 gods. That's hard to read in a series that only comes out every couple of months. I think on a re-read in quick sucession, these issues will be fine, but not even bi-monthly, it's hard to reccomend this book. Hopefully Cascioli will get this book out on a more timely basis than it has been. I will miss Porter, but if Cascioli can churn out issues that look like this one consistently, I won't miss Porter that much. C+
