Episode 109 - A Magic Trick
Here's a magic trick for you: Dan got the podcast posted within 16 hours of it being recorded. Lately, that's magical.
In this episode, we spend the hour discussing a small art-house film about puppies and butterflies called The Dark Knight.

YEAH! The THANAGARIAN SNARE BEAST!!!!!
And nick, in case you've ever wondered why I never talk to you on instant messenger, refer to your conversation in this with chris. You're crazy man. Just nuts.
Holy crud you guys really got into it. Well at least Nick and Chris. I agree with Dan and Omar that everyone has an opinion, no need to get loud and angry. Still an enjoyable show and I really wanted to jump in there to take up for the DK, sorry Nick, but you just can't win in this one bud.
joshiebear: Eh, as long I am crazy and not an idiot, I'll take it as a compliment.
Justin: Oh dude, I am well aware of how people LOVE DK...believe you me. I knew right when I came outta the theater...this is gonna be one of those movies everybody loved but me. I just have weird tastes in movies I guess, an certain things just didn't work for me in DK. I don't hate DK...in fact I told Chris and a couple of others that I thought it was good...but just good. A lot of people saw "greatness" within this movie and I never really felt it, the acting was masterful, the story engaging, heck even the cinematography was pretty damn nice but...it all just never really hit home with me. I can give you all kinds of major/minor points here and there on why maybe I didn't like DK but the truth is...I got no clue. I just came out of the theater thinking...eh...that wasn't half bad...instead of OMFG THAT WAS SWEET!!!!!!!!
I AM glad soo many other people enjoyed the movie though and hope it spurs them to do the third movie as I'd really like to see where the creative team behind these first two flicks go with a third.
Great podcast, guys, as usual. Nick and Chris, I'm just glad you two didn't come to blows! Holy shit! The truth is, though, I could see EVERYBODY'S points that were raised, and they were all valid. In fact, I'm working on an essay that I'm going to submit to the site to address all the issues you guys brought up in this podcast. Chris, thanks for bringing up some of the other points that I thought made the 1989 "Batman" of little to no consequence. Omar, I was SO glad you were right there with me to say that Jack Nicholson portrayed JACK NICHOLSON playing the Joker! Nice to know we think on the same wavelength. And by the way...as a magician, I know EXACTLY where that pencil went...but as a magician, I can't reveal the secret! LOL! Dan, you made some interesting observations about the limited portrayal of Harvey Den't "dark side", and Batman's "detective skills". I'm seeing the movie again this weekend, so I'll watch for those issues. Hell, ALL of you guys made interesting observations. Can't we all just get along? :)
I have to say that I am one those that didn't enjoy the movie as much as most people. After listening to you guys talk I went to see it again and ended up loving it more. It was the best movie this year. Now, I don't agree with Chris as saying the best movie ever, but I'm 45 and I have seen probably three times as many movies since that was my major. Chris and Nick should just kiss and make-up, this isn't middle school kids.
An enjoyable podcast, as always. You guys never disappoint. I'm definitely going to go watch DK when (and if) I can afford it, but one of these days I will go to see it.
