Good times, my friends. After the last West Coast Podcast, our buddy (and band-leader) Justin Q was inspired to elaborate on our mental image of Cap deciding to enter the Siege-fray at the end of Siege Issue #1 with an awesome sketch.
Hey kiddies. We had our Halloween party here at West Coast About Heroes HQ a few nights ago and all the pics are finally rolling in. Since we want you to feel like you're a part of the crew, we thought we'd share some of the picks with you.
You'd best believe we threw down some beer pong.
Showing some love for Chris H.
Yeah, this happened a bit here and there....
Friends of the podcast Daniell T and Patty M. Sweet costumes, no?
It occurs to me that my ass is extremely compromised in this picture. MJ is not to be trusted. Too soon?
You can't keep up with the Chris K, and he knows it.
Chris H is gonna diagnose the shit out of Norman Bates...
Justin Q as Tony Stark hanging with Jennie B, as TANK GIRL!!!
I'm about to get punched in the face by Tank Girl (seriously though, as I type this, I still have a soft spot on my jaw).
A Happy (belated) Halloween to you from West Coast About Heroes and Friends.
Oh yeah, and this may or may not have happened....
Pics by Kelvin Blasko, Maria A, Jeptha S, and uh...possibly others.

In this episode, the West Coast crew read some listener hate mail and catch up with each other telling various nerd stories. Josh talks about his proud moment of his girlfriend's first 'nerd rage' episode, Chris K talks about seeing Paranormal Activity, We address claims that we're homophobes, We talk a little about comics, it's a good one, kiddies!
So this is not a blog. It isn't personal, it's About Heroes and thus, about comics and movies and anything in the nerd medium. That being said, I have to tell this story because I think it's hilarious and illustrates how awesome my nerd-life is. As some of you might know from listening to the podcasts, I'm conducting an experiment where I'm having my girlfriend read comics to see if she enjoys them on some level, and it turns out she kinda is. So after giving her Ultimates Vol. 1 to read, She's moved on to Vol. 2. Now here's the thing. I had Vol. 1 in TPB format, but I only had the individual issues of Vol. 2. So I gave here the bagged and boarded issues and lightly urged her to be careful with them, just cuz they'd been perfectly perserved thus far and wanted to keep the streak going. I've since ditched the "collector mentality" and am content to just read and enjoy comics, however I do try to preserve them in bags and boards just to keep 'em around longer.
So last night at 1:30, I get a call from Danielle (my aforementioned girlfriend). I already had a pretty lengthy conversation with her earlier and thus couldn't imagine what she could be calling about. I pick up the phone and the first thing she says is "I did something bad." And not in a cutesy way. Like, she really did something bad. My thoughts start racing. What did she do? Did she break my Wii that I've lent to her? Did she hook up with some guy? WHAT DID SHE DO!? I (as calmly as I can) ask "What did you do?" and she responds "....I bent one of your comics." I immediately sigh a sigh of relief, laugh, and apologize for apparently being a tyrant about these comic books and their care, because she felt legitimately bad and thought it was a huge deal. I assure her it's fine (but can't help but ask her not to do it again if she can help it) and hang up the phone. Hilarious. At least in my opinion. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that little nugget of nerd awkwardness from my life. If you didn't, our money back guarantee stands and you can receive a full refund of the cost of this article. Later kiddies!
