The future of Mr. Claremont after being booted off from Uncanny X-men was unknown. We knew he would be writing New Excalibur, but he was also supposed to be working on two secret projects. Newsarama has revealed what those two projects are. His first project is a miniseries called Genext. As of issue 84, he will be taking over as the regular writer on Exiles and he will be bringing one of his favorite characters. From the looks of the sketch cover, it looks like it will be our favorite British turned ninja psychic assassin!

If you haven't read the latest New Avengers then don't read anymore of this news brief as it may spoil a little of the end for ya. But the basic low down thats been bursting around the Mark Millar focused forums is that he will be heading up an Alpha Flight return. I'll just let this quote of his do the rest of the explaining:
"I'm really using Marvel Civil War as a means of re-establishing some of the greatest, sadly missing characters from the MU. I'm very old school, despite being only thirty-six, and put this down to reading Marvel UK reprints as a kid instead of the books you guys were reading in the 80s and 90s. Thus, the period I have the biggest affection for really runs from Stan and Jack up to classic John Byrne. I'm reading all the Byrne FFs right now and loving them to pieces. I just love the Alpha Flight stuff I'm reading too and plan to end MCW with the possibility of a very good, very high profile Alpha Flight book spinning out of the series." -Alpha Waves Message Board, Mark Millar
Ha ha ha, its not Bendis.
Not only is Uncanny X-men getting a new creative team this summer, but there will also be new faces on the team. According to Brubaker the team will consist of
Professor Xavier: Well, I guess it's kind of a spoiler, but Marvel has really been spoiling things trying to emphasize how important Deadly Genesis since sales having been satisfactory.
Havok: Currently with Polaris, so I am assuming he survives the current dreaded attack of Apocalypse.
Nightcrawler: Glad to see him still around and hopefully he will have his accent back by the time Brubaker ends Deadly Genesis.
Marvel Girl: Finally someone other than Claremont thinks this character is really significant to the X-men.
Warpath: Who has been in the shadows since the cancellation of X-force, now gets to be in Uncanny. Hopefully he will be used for something better than just mere cannon fodder.
I really am impressed to see Brubaker keep Nightcrawler and Phoenix around and actually use a C-list character in a core book. The whereabouts of Bishop and Psylocke are unknown at this time. Psylocke is due to appear in an issue of New Excalibur though. Of course Storm is currently stuck in that ridiculous forced storyline, where she is to marry Black Panther. That is until the editors realize no one is bothering buying that and they return her to her roots.
