    Cap’s Shield in Iron Man?!?

So on a post in a community I usually check out, I saw a screen-grab from the Iron Man movie claiming that Captain America’s shield was hidden in Tony’s Workshop in the scene where Pepper walks in on him trying to get the Iron Man Armor off after his real first Iron-Many adventure. Well…I somehow magically procured a cam-copy of the movie (after paying for myself and 3 friends to see it in theaters) for the sole purpose of checking this out for myself, and I’ll be damned…here it is… Too hard to see? Here’s a closer look. I’ve gone ahead and darkened out the stuff around it and kinda…

    Negima! Magister Negi Magi Spotlight

Story & Art: Ken AkamatsuTranslations: Douglas Varenas, Toshifumi Yoshida, and othersAdaptation: Peter David, Trish Ledoux, Kathleen O’shea David, Ikoi Hiroe, and othersPublisher: Del Rey Over the last month I have been reading Negima Magister Negi Magi just about every chance I got. After reading the first 15 volumes of this series and having read the entire Love Hina series, I have come to the realization that Ken Akamatsu has made a living off of underdog boys and girls who inexplicably adore them. I really have no idea how something like this could work in real life, these wimpy guys get all the chicks. That’s it I’m going to stop working…

Midweek Manga Reviews: From Air Gears to fighting Reindeer

Air Gear vol. 6Story & Art: Oh Great!Translation: Makoto YukanLetterer: NMSGPublisher: Del Rey After a long streak of love story manga, I decided to go back to my true roots and read something with plenty of action and plenty of fan service. Thank God for Air Gear! Back to the world of high-tech inline skating, intense battling/racing, and gorgeous half naked women. Who could ask for anything more? In this volume Ikki(Itsuki Minami) learns a little about Rika’s past, which of course revolves around the Sleeping Forest and Sora. Instead of learning a lesson from hearing about Sora’s tragic past, Ikki sets a new goal; to be the new storm.…

    Catwoman # 77 Review

Writer: Will PfeifferPenciller: David LopezInker: Alvaro LopezCover: Adam Hughes Most of the time Adam Hughes’ covers don’t really bother me. They usually don’t have anything to do with the interior of the book. Half naked women with T&A everywhere, but hey he’s just doing what the editor tells him to do. While this issue is a tie-in with Salvation Run, with the exception of Joker, none of those villains make an appearance. I wonder how his All Star Wonder Woman is coming along? He’s been working on that since 2006? While Pfeiffer manages to keep his title character in the spotlight amidst all the crossovers and tie-ins and this Salvation…

Midweek Manga Reviews: From Goddesses to talking toys!

Minima! Vol.1Story & Art: Machiko SakuraiTranslation: Athena NibleyAdaptation: Alethea NibleyPublisher: Del Rey I can’t imagine what it would have been like to grow up without a favorite stuffed animal. My toy rabbit was my buddy when I was a kid and I would have given anything for him to come to life. Well that’s exactly what happens to Ame Oikawa. She is a shy schoolgirl that happens to be in love with the cutest guy in the school Sasaki; she also finds a stuffed animal that is already alive. Nicori is a little meerkat doll (I still think he looks like a mouse) that has a mind of his own…

Midweek Manga Reviews: yeah… midweek sorry about that

Boys Over Flowers Volume 27Yoko KamioViz Media Finally! Finally, finally, finally, finally! Tsukushi declares her love for Tsukasa! Yeah, the guy is a jerk at the beginning of the series, but as it progressed, the more I began to become fond of him. Kamio’s art style may not be my favorite, but when she draws Tsukasa with bubbles around him, glowing, and standing in a cool pose because he’s saying something romantic, he’s awfully sexy! This guy will do anything for Tsukushi too, such as moving into a tiny little apartment with no bathroom in order to live next door to her and protect her from burglars. He’s slowly maturing…

Monday Manga Reviews: From guys with giant swords to students with demon powers!

As you may have noticed last week there was no Monday Manga Reviews and it’s not because we got lazy (well I guess we could have sped-read through some books, but I’m glad we don’t do that). It’s because we got a double dosage of books coming up this week, but you’ll see, so for now on to the reviews! Berserk vol. 20Story & Art: Kentaro MiuraTranslation: Duane JohnsonLettering & Retouch: ReplibooksPublisher: Dark Horse After many years and volumes Guts and Casca are briefly reunited in this volume. But it wouldn’t be Berserk if they weren’t reunited amidst a heard of demons and angel/demon amalgamations. It seems that the demons…

Monday Manga Reviews: Aria, Hell Girl, Hunter X Hunter, Here is Greenwood, Short Suzen, and V.B. Rose

Aria vol. 1Story & Art: Kozue AmanoTranslation: Elina IshikawaAdaptation: Gina Lee FerenziPublisher: Tokyopop A few months ago I reviewed Aqua and fell in love with the world of Aqua (which as it turns out was Mars in the 24th century). Aqua was the prequel for the manga Aria, which at the time I thought was released in America. Well, as it turns out the Aria manga just hit the US and I finally got around to reading it. I would first love to point out the gorgeous cover; something about Kozue’s covers really brings out my inner-child. The story takes place in the city of Neo-Venezia, based on Venice in…

Monday Manga Reviews: Coyotes, Goddesses, Dark Ones, and More!

Coyote Ragtime Show vols. 1 & 2Story: UfotableDesign: Haruo SotozakiArt: Tartan CheckPublisher: Broccoli Books I really don’t understand the title of this boo, but I can say that I really love that cover. An old guy and a little girl holding guns. If that doesn’t scream badass, I really don’t know what does. Planet Graceland is about to be destroyed within seven days. The pirate king Blues has stashed treasure in this planet and seven days is enough time for Mister to bust out of jail and try to get this treasure. However, the treasure is not all that he is going to find, because the dead pirate king also…

Monday Manga Reviews: From demons that grant wishes to good witches

Love Attack Vol. 1Story & Art: Shizuru SeinoTranslation: Adrienne BeckAdaptation: Magdalena SniegockiPublisher: Tokyopop No, Love attack is not a song by Bad Company. Although, if you’ve heard the lyrics to the song it kind of relates to the story in Junai Tokko Taicho (Love Attack)! In a twist of sorts, Chiemi Yursa is a high school girl whose record is anything but perfect. She has been suspended for bullying other students and fighting more than once and she’s not even half way through her first year. This all might lead to an expulsion, unless she can convince Akifumi Hirata, the nastiest fighter in the school to clean up his act.…
