    Cyclops

From Marvel Legends Series 10 It’s about time. I’ve been waiting for years for a well-made action figure of Cyclops in his classic costume, and it’s finally been made for me, complete with puffy seventies boots and gloves. This is Cyclops from the Dark Phoenix saga, from his days at the forefront of the X-Men, before he became the progenitor of the most chronally-disfuntional family ever. I really dig this figure – he’s got all the posability of Marvel Legends, without most of the problems that the overabundance of joints brings to most of the other figures in the line. His ball-joint shoulders are offset from his torso a little…

    Drunk Comic Book History Chronicles

This weekend sees the release of the film CHRONICLE. Directed by Josh Trank and written by Max Landis, the movie marks a really big debut for the two. Both filmmakers have a history with making YouTube videos, with Trank making viral fan films in the same found footage style (click here to see one). Max Landis is the guy behind DRUNK COMIC BOOK HISTORY and COOKING WITH COMICS. A fanboy take on the webseries Drunk History, Max recounts some popular Batman history to the camera while his friends reenact it in as cheaply as possible.I became a pretty big fan of these. Me and my friends still quote “No it…

Darkwing Duck Volume 1: The Duck Knight Returns

Artist: James SilvaniCover: Magic Eye Studios  One very magical thing about super heroes (animated, illustrated, or live action) is that they usually have a battle cry. Some sort of call to arms to make evil doers cringing with fear at the sight of our favorite costumed crusaders. Who doesn’t love to hear Captain America shout “Avengers Assemble?” Which kid from the 80′s didn’t get goosebumps every time Prince Adam pulled out his magical sword and said “By the Power of Grayskull, I Have the Power!” Believe me, I’m not the only fan who gets an adrenaline rush hearing Tommy shout “It’s Morphin Time!” Basically, a great rally cry from our…

About Heroes @ Comic Con 2010: The Walking Dead panel

Fans of Kirkmans book…get ready to be VERY happy. Before we got to seeing some footage, we were first introduced to the creative team to the show. Director/Writer Frank Darabont, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Producer Gale Anne Hurd, Make up efx master Greg Nicotero, and head of AMC SVP of original programing Joel Stillerman. A quick roundup on some of the information we got: -Gale (having a hand in a few comic-to-movie properties) got involved after hearing the popularity of the series and then reading the book. -Darabont, a huge horror fan, discovered the series at his local comic shop. Upon reading it he realized that the story…

    Dororo vols. 2 & 3

Dororo vols. 2 & 3Story & Art: Osamu TezukaTranslation: Dawn T. LaabsPublisher: Vertical It’s really hard to read a book by Osamu Tezuka knowing you are going to be reviewing it. It’s hard because how do you review the guy that set the standard for manga, hell not only manga but comics in general. I know Omar reviewed the first volume and loved it, but when he passed these down to me I just didn’t know what to critique. Dororo is a manga about a man named Hyakkimaru who was robbed of 48 of his body parts by the devil. Not your usual happy starting point from the man that…

Book Review: Batman Vs. The Incredible Hulk

This review was submitted by Jeff Hartz. Writer: Len WeinArtists: Jose Luis Garcia LopezDick Giordano Okay, so I have a couple of reasons for submitting this review. Number one is the fact that while we wait for Omar and Melanie to return from their wonderful honeymoon, it’s time for some of us to step up and provide some filler for the website. Number two is that with both “The Incredible Hulk” and “The Dark Knight” hitting theatres this summer, it sounds like the right time to look back at this 1981 classic. You can find this story in The Crossover Classics Volume One trade paperback, unless you’re really old like…

    Iron Man 2 News

So….I have to say I’m shocked that I haven’t read this anywhere, but I have some pretty substantial Iron Man 2 news to reveal, and all parties involved in the production of the second movie have been amazingly sneaky about this… Well let me catch you up to speed in case you don’t troll the nerd lairs of the internet that cover subjects like comic movies and whatnot. Pretty soon after they released Iron Man Terrance Howard (who played James Rhodes aka War Machine-to-be) and asked him when they were going to start filming the second film, which Marvel slated to release in 2010 paired with Thor. He responded saying…

    Serenity: Better Days miniseries Review

This review was submitted by Hero 004Publisher: Dark Horse Writer: Joss Whedon/Brett Matthews Artists: Will Conrad- Pencils, Michelle Madison-Colors Serenity is one of my favorite movies. It’s one of those films that I suggest to everyone, even if they’re not into science fiction. It takes watching the fantastic preceding TV series, Firefly, to truly appreciate the cinematic level that Joss Whedon takes his genre-Defying story with the feature film. Serenity is so one of a kind, in fact, that the chances for a sequel look very dim. So when a three issue comic miniseries taking place in between the Show and movie, written by Whedon himself, and containing 150 pages…

Captain Britain and MI 13 # 1 Review

Author: Paul CornellPenciler: Leonard KirkInker: Jesse DelperdangColors: Brian Reber Does anyone know if this book is an ongoing or a miniseries? Because it seems like it’s another incarnation with a deserving Excalibur somewhere on that title. I really enjoyed Cornell’s Wisdom miniseries. I really though besides Warren Ellis, Paul Cornell is the only writer that has been able to write that character properly. I really thought this books was doomed when I read Secret Invasion on the cover. After those so called “tie-ins” that Bendis is putting us through in the Avengers titles, I really thought we were going to get a story about a boy Skrull and his dog…
